BEADLE of Hull and Kirkella, East Riding: Gules, a chevron between three escallops argent all within a bordure engrailed of the last.
The arms of John Beadle, chairman of the Hull Dock Board 184-1847. The arms, with a crest – a stag’s head erased or, attired and ducally gorged gules – are depicted on a portrait of Beadle in the Hull Maritime Museum. The arms are based on a coat registered by a family surnamed Bedell, recorded at a seventeenth century herald’s visitation of Huntingdonshire.
